Graphic designs function is communication. But it’s the creative spark that captures our attention and compels us to action.

For me the first spark of creativity comes from listening to my client and learning about their business or organization. It’s that first meeting when I get to know who they are and what makes them tick. It could be their mission, the purpose of their project or their favorite color that starts the wheels turning.

I gather and store creative inspiration from a myriad of places. Beautiful artwork in a museum, interesting old signs or the colors of fresh fruit at the Marin Farmers Market. I notice the color of an Autumn leaf on the sidewalk, hot pink bougainvillea trailing through a San Rafael alley or in the shape of the Marin hills. All of these things are ready to supply the creative spark for a new design that will bring a brand to life.
