When my daughter was young we read Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham. She was so excited about the green eggs in the story that we had to get green food coloring and make them. She took one bite and said, “These are the best eggs I ever had—so much better than the yellow ones.”

Why did a few drops of green food coloring make the eggs taste better?

Sight is the primary way we perceive the world around us. Sight can overrule the other senses, and has the power to persuade us. Even that Sam-I-am’s green eggs taste better!
